This solar tracker was a great demonstration of proof of concept prototype. Iterating on quick cost effective 3D prints let us dial in the sensor parameters. This device offloads complex computational work from multiple costly devices and sensors into a simple unified package.
The device was able to pinpoint the sun to within half a degree of accuracy even on cloudy days. This used a culmination of sensors and algorithms which could output simple instructions to motors or control boards for extremely efficient movement and power usage.
